Diamonds are a girl's best friend!

One Sunday 2 weeks before Christmas I was having too much fun in Sacrament meeting wrestling Scarlett on my lap when my ring snagged her tights. I looked down and the diamond from my original engagement ring, which I wear on my right hand, was missing. After the service we checked the pew and surrounding area but to no avail.

I was sad for the sentimental loss one day prior to our 36th anniversary. Though Randy had "upgraded" my wedding ring twice since giving me the original...this diamond meant something more. We had a house full of company that week but I "watched" for the stone as I went about my day. I was elated when I found a loose stone in my earring box that looked like a diamond. What were the chances? I set it aside to be verified after the holidays.

At the end of that week we went to California for a several days and, upon our return, rendezvoused with Kelli and Todd and their families for the holiday between Christmas and New Year's. I quit looking for the diamond believing I had found it. One evening while cleaning up I swept the coat room that leads to the garage. All those people tracking winter in and out had left it quite dirty. As I was emptying the dust pan into the trash, Ashley, who was working in the kitchen, turned and looked into it and said: "There's something shiny in there". We retrieved what looked like another diamond.

An examination by the jeweler confirmed that the real diamond was the one scooped out of the dust pan. The miracle is that is was missed by 'Roomba' on more than one occasion! I am thankful for a very alert daughter-in-law and I am thankful to have the stone reset and back on my right hand!
